Passkey Authentication

Set up biometric sign-in with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN for instant access.

What Are Passkeys?

Passkeys are a modern alternative to passwords and magic links. They use your device's built-in security (fingerprint, face recognition, or PIN) to verify your identity.

Benefits

  • Instant sign-in — No waiting for emails
  • Phishing-resistant — Can't be stolen remotely
  • Works offline — No internet needed for the biometric check
  • Cross-platform — Works on phones, tablets, and computers

Setting Up a Passkey

  1. Sign in to Servida using a magic link
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Find the Passkeys section
  4. Click Register Passkey
  5. Your browser will prompt you to use your device's biometric:
    • Touch ID / Face ID on Apple devices
    • Fingerprint / Face unlock on Android
    • Windows Hello on Windows
    • Security key (USB/NFC)

Signing In with a Passkey

  1. Go to the sign-in page
  2. Click Sign in with a passkey
  3. Your browser presents a biometric prompt
  4. Verify with your fingerprint, face, or PIN
  5. You're signed in instantly

Managing Passkeys

From Settings, you can:

  • View registered passkeys — See when each was created and last used
  • Delete a passkey — Remove a passkey you no longer want
  • Register additional passkeys — Add one for each of your devices

Browser Support

Passkeys work in:

  • ✅ Chrome 108+
  • ✅ Safari 16+
  • ✅ Edge 108+
  • ✅ Firefox 122+
  • ✅ iOS 16+
  • ✅ Android 9+

If your browser doesn't support passkeys, the button will show "Passkeys unavailable" and you can continue using magic links.

Security Details

  • Passkeys use the WebAuthn standard (FIDO2)
  • Your biometric data never leaves your device
  • The passkey is cryptographically bound to servida.app
  • Even if someone has your device, they still need your biometric to authenticate

Troubleshooting

  • "Passkeys unavailable" — Update your browser to the latest version
  • Passkey prompt doesn't appear — Try a different browser, or check your device's biometric settings
  • Lost your device — You can always sign in with a magic link and register a new passkey on your new device
